Bhushan Steel appointed Narendran as Chairman

Bhushan Steel, acquired by Tata Steel under corporate resolution process, has appointed T.V. Narendran as Chairmanand non-executive, additional director of the company.

Mr. Narendran is the CEO & MD of Tata Steel. A new management team has been put into place at Bhushan Steel after it was acquired by Tata Steel via the insolvency and bankruptcy process.

Mukesh Ambani reappointed as Reliance Chairman for 5 more years

Mukesh Ambani, one of the board member of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) since 1977, was elevated as Chairman of RIL after the death of his father and group patriarch Dhirubhai Ambani in July 2012.

Ambani will be paid an annual salary of Rs 4.17 crore and Rs 59 lakh of perquisites and allowances.

Dr. Inder Jit Singh Assumes Charge As Secretary, Ministry Of Coal

Dr. Inder Jit Singh assumed charge as  Secretary, Ministry of Coal at  Shastri Bhawan office, New Delhi.

Dr. Inder Jit Singh took over the charge of  Secretary which fell vacant after superannuation of Susheel Kumar.

In the interim, Secretary Mines, Anil G Mukhim had been holding additional charge as Secretary, Coal.

Pravin Agrawal Appointed BHEL Director

State-run power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) appointed Pravin L. Agrawal as a part-time official director on its board.

An Indian Forest Service officer, Agrawal is presently joint secretary in the Department of Heavy Industry (DHI), Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.

Infosys Appoints Salil S Parekh as MD & CEO

Infosys announced the appointment of Salil S. Parekh as its new CEO and Managing Director. Salil was in Capgemini earlier.

The Bengaluru-headquartered company was searching for a new CEO after former CEO Vishal Sikka resigned in August 2017. Cofounder Nandan Nilekani returned to the company as non-executive chairman to steady operations.

Satya Gopal appointed as chief secretary of Arunchal Pradesh

Delhi Principal Home Secretary Satya Gopal transferred to Arunachal Pradesh as the chief secretary.

Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal relieved Satya Gopal from the Delhi Principal Home Secretary post. Satya Gopal is a 1988 batch IAS officer.

The transfer of Satya Gopal has been made one-and-a-half months after he was appointed as the principal home secretary in the Delhi government.

Shashi Shanker appointed as ONGC Chairman

Shashi Shanker appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of India’s biggest oil and gas producer Oil natural Gas and Corporation (ONGC)till March 2021.

He is currently Director (Technical and Field Services) at ONGC.

Shri Rajiv Gauba takes over as Union Home Secretary

Shri Rajiv Gauba, IAS (Jharkhand cadre-1982 batch) took over as Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Mr. Gauba joined the Ministry of Home Affairs as Officer on Special Duty on June 27, 2017.

He took charge as the Union Home Secretary upon the superannuation of Shri Rajiv Mehrishi.

Mr. Upendra Tripathy appointed as Interim Director General | International Solar Alliance

Mr. Upendra Tripathy, a Former Secretary of the Renewable Energy Ministry, has been appointed Interim Director General of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), which brings together countries with abundant sunshine with the aim of lowering solar energy costs. 

Background on International Solar Alliance (ISA)

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) was launched on 30th November, 2015 as a coalition of the solar resource rich countries jointly by Shri. Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and Mr.François Hollande, Hon’ble President of France in the presence of Mr. Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations on the first day of the Paris Climate Conference or CoP21. ISA’s mission and vision is to provide a dedicated platform for cooperation among solar resource rich countries where the global community including bilateral and multilateral organizations, corporates, industry, and stakeholders can make a positive contribution to assist and help achieve the common goals of increasing use of the solar energy in meeting energy needs of prospective ISA member countries in a safe, convenient, affordable, equitable and sustainable manner. On 25 January 2016, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, and the Hon’ble French President François Hollande jointly laid the foundation stone of the ISA headquarters and inaugurated the Interim Secretariat of the ISA at the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) in Gwalpahari, Gurugram. The Government of the Republic of India shall contribute US$ 27 million to the ISA for creating corpus, building infrastructure and recurring expenditure over 5 year duration.
