OBJECTIVE OF CPU In the field of power as on today, there is competition as well as inter-dependence. The world is divided into two distinct areas-developed and developing so far as the electric power development is concerned. The developed countries have the technology, financial resources and the expertise for power capacity addition, their operation and maintenance in an efficient and environment friendly manner. The developing countries on the other hand, provide an exceptionally growing market for power development, especially in the wake of their liberalization endeavor. The trend is therefore, most suitable for a very close interaction between the developed and the developing countries for mutual assessment of problems and formulation of solutions through exchange of ideas and information. With this objective in view, the Council of Power Utilities offers an excellent opportunity to the Power Utilities of the world for such interaction. The council has been mainly formed to evolve solutions of the problems connected with the power sector. The important attribute of this council is that it is an association of power utilities, trying to solve the problems of the utilities themselves in the collaboration with other players in power development business, namely designers, consultants, manufacturers, investors, policy makers and environmentalists. The Major Objectives of the council are Sharing the experience of the major manufacturer of power plant equipment, engineering consultants, academicians, environmentalists and the leading utilities in the world in the area of Eco-friendly power generation. Discussions thru conferences at regular intervals regarding technological advancements in conventional and non-conventional power sources in the areas of improved efficiency and environment. Developing closer working relationship between experts from manufacturers and Utilities and all others concerned through personal interaction. Assessment of problems and formulation of solutions through interchange of ideas in order to strive for economically, socially and environmentally sustainable power development strategies for sustainable power development. OFFICE BEARER Chairman of CPU and two Vice Chairman are elected from amongst the members of the Council. Secretary general is the Executive Head for carrying out day-to-day activities of of the Council. |
