The Council is home to a multitude of books and publications pertaining to the Power Sector.
Some of them are published in-house; others are marketed via associations with global publishers.
The underlying aim is to maintain and expand a library of books and publications of technical, commercial, economic, commercial, statistical and general interest in association with other publishers for the common benefit of awareness and information to all stakeholders involved.
CPU conducts research, examines and investigates operational problems, undertakes special studies and surveys on the demand of it’s members at their request. The results of such research are then communicated back to the member organization along with suggestions for improvement. The Council also promotes inter-firm comparison among members in all comparable areas of performance.
Apart from it’s Annual Conference, the Council provides a common platform and organizes dedicated programs on behalf of it’s member companies for the launch of a new product, introduction of a new technology or simply a get-together for interaction of a member company and it’s prospective clients.
This service is also provided against a fee to international organizations, which are interested to create awareness of their product/service in the Indian market.
Now in it’s 25th year of successful publication, the India Power Journal is the official journal of the Council. It is published every quarter and has a readership base of 80,000 annually. Not only is it circulated on a pan-India basis, but also travels internationally.
The Journal covers articles from key personnel, decision & policy makers of the international power sector, reports on new policies and initiatives undertaken by the Government, press releases, latest happenings in the sector and advertisements from leading power companies both in India and abroad.
Instituted in 2008, the India Power Awards is an Annual Award Ceremony that aims to acknowledge the good work done in the Sector. The Awards have grown from strength to strength and have now become a benchmark of success in the Power Industry. Various award categories ensure that every aspect of the electricity supply industry is encompassed and has an opportunity to be recognized. Women in the sector, innovators & pioneers as well as organizations that have been around for a while; each vertical is given an opportunity to put forward their nomination.
Through it’s conferences, seminars and workshops; the Council bridges the palpable gap that exist between policy makers, power generators, equipment manufacturers, environmentalists, power traders and the likes. The outcomes of these events are summarized and presented to the concerned Authority or Nodal Agency. Various Ministries of the Government also seek the Council Members’ suggestions and recommendations from time to time.
The Council acts as a two-way street between entities of the Indian Power Sector and their counterparts abroad.
On one hand; it collects industry specific information, new technology and industry best practices from the forerunners in the Sector and dissipates the same back home.
On the other hand; the Council acts as an agent of change for foreign counterparts wanting to expand their market to India by re-directing them to the concerned entities which would benefit from their product/service.
In this way, CPU ensures that entities of the Power Sector are provided with a means to achieve their very best and are able to gain access to untested waters.
